Getting involved

UNISON is your union. So why not get involved? Becoming a union representative can be a really rewarding experience and is a great way to gain new skills and knowledge, whilst also looking after your friends and co-workers. There are a variety of ways you can get involved, including as a campaign volunteer, workplace contact, sectional steward or branch officer.

UNISON provides all the training you’ll need (at no cost to you) and you’ll get paid time off from work to attend any courses and meetings required for your role. You don’t need to commit huge amounts of time towards some roles and job-share arrangements for all branch positions are always welcome. If you don’t want to be a ‘rep’ or steward, think about being a ‘contact point’ to keep us up to date on what goes on in your department.

If you’d like more information about becoming a UNISON workplace representative or branch officer; or if you’re interested in helping run a branch campaign; or if you can simply spare a small amount of time each year to help distribute some branch publicity in your office, then please get in touch using the form below.
