OPS Restructure: SOAS UNISON Votes YES in Strike Ballot

9 May 2019

Dear SOAS UNISON member

The result of the SOAS UNISON industrial action ballot over compulsory redundancies during the One Professional Service (OPS) restructure is as follows: 92.2% of members voted in favour of strike action on a turnout of 57.8%.

This is a fantastic result which puts the pressure back on School management. The SOAS UNISON Branch Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in the ballot. It is a clear message to the School management reflecting the anger and upset we have all felt as part of the shambolic OPS restructure.

The SOAS UNISON Branch Committee will now meet with our UNISON Regional Officer to discuss the next steps but we are asking members to be prepared to take industrial action towards the end of May if management don’t provide the reassurances that we have requested.

We have scheduled a dispute resolution meeting with the School for Thursday 16 May 2019 and will update you following that meeting.
