The role of Treasurer is to make sure the Union has enough money for its activities. We get a proportion of all membership fees, which we use to run local events, send people on training courses and to send officers to National Conference. The Union is in a healthy financial position and are always open for suggestions as to how to use the money we have to further the cause of staff at SOAS and other social issues our members wish to promote.
We also prepare the annual accounts for presentation at our AGM, which are audited by other members of the Union before being sent off to UNISON national office. Whilst the role of Treasurer is mainly administration, many of our activites require funding so it is an important part of what we do, and it needs to be open and transparent. If you have any questions about funding, or if a project you have would be eligible, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
