Following our successful strike ballots over pay and the attack on the USS pension scheme SOAS UNISON has now been authorised to take strike action on the following dates alongside our UCU colleagues:
Monday – Tuesday 21 & 22 February 2022
Monday – Wednesday 28 February, 1 & 2 March 2022
UNISON expects ALL members to take part in the strike. Fighting for a decent pay rise has never been more vital as we see energy prices skyrocketing and inflation set to hit levels not seen for decades.
- If you are due to be on campus on the strike days please do not go into work and, if at all possible, join the picket line for part of each day.
- If you are due to be working from home then we are asking you not to log in and do any work from home during the strike days. You can of course join us on the physical picket line if you wish.
All members taking part in the action will qualify for daily strike pay from the national union (details to follow) and can also apply to the local branch hardship fund.
The SOAS Students’ Union are fully in support of the strike action and we once again thank them for their fantastic solidarity.
If you are speaking to any non-UNISON or UCU colleagues who may want to support the action, please let them know that they are not obliged to cross the picket line (and can join UNISON here).
While we will not be taking official strike action during the first week of the UCU’s strike from 14 – 18 February we would encourage all members to show them as much support and solidarity as you can.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the picket line.
